As we look towards autumn, the Society is delighted to announce its Lecture Programme for the new season, put together by our Lectures Secretary – Jimmy Austin.
Once again, we have a full programme with an event every month between September and June next year.
Our season of events is being kicked off with what is becoming a tradition for the Society – an archive film show by Steve Foxon. This year, the theme will be “Railways Remembered: The Railway Fascination” and will take place on Thursday 17th September 2026 starting at 18:00. It is expected that the film show will last about 80 minutes with an interval part way through the evening.
The evening will help Members rediscover the passion and progress of post-war rail in this archive film presentation. From the birth of preservation and nostalgic enthusiast club specials to groundbreaking engineering—from the Midland Compound 1000 to Deltics and HSTs — join us as we celebrate the devotion that has shaped our railways.
For more information about all of the lecture events taking place this season please visit our website 2026-27 Lecture Programme and make a note in your diary for all the up and coming events.
We hope to see you at the Derby Conference Centre or on Zoom when it is broadcast live.
