Paul Thomas – Technical Director for Rail Systems at SNC-Lavalin Atkins gave a lecture on the digital transformation of the whole of the East Coast Mainline (ECML). The East Coast Digital Programme (ECDP) at circa £1.8bn is the first programme within this ECML transformation. The transformation will be achieved through the introduction of European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) digital technologies to the Southern section of the ECML and seizing the opportunity presented by a significant signalling renewal work bank.

Presented on Tuesday 15th November 2022, Paul described some of the challenges faced by the programme and how the programme is set up to address these challenges.
