The first DRES event of 2024 was the annual East Midlands Railways (EMR) lecture which was delivered by Ian Hyde (EMR Fleet Director).

Ian described EMR’s vision which is “Customers at the heart of our sustainable railway for the East Midlands”. In aspiring to this vision, EMR has several key objectives, including: improving regional connectivity, decarbonising and transforming our fleet, growing customer numbers and revenue. To achieve these objectives, we are introducing new bi-mode trains, refurbishing existing trains and upgrading our depots. Ian shared the complexities of EMR’s “Master Plan” to deliver this transformation for the East Midlands.
